St. Puptrick’s Day!

Hi Humans!

Today is March 17, and instead of celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, we are celebrating St. PUPtrick’s Day!

In honor of our new holiday, we want to hear about your pup’s tricks. Can he sit? Can he roll over? Can he shake his paw? Can he do an irish dance?

Looking forward to hearing!

Happy St. PUPtrick’s Day!

Have a woofin’ good day!

New News is Old News

Hi Humans!

Today we’re going to talk about science.

Research has found that dogs can recognize other dogs on a computer screen.

The research suggests that dogs can identify dogs from multiple species despite the multitude of dog breeds that exist.

This research supports our research here at DOGTV and answers one of our most asked questions: Do dogs really enjoy watchings dogs on TV?

Despite the research conducted, we’ve gathered some (highly entertaining) proof of the phenomenon.

Check it out:

Here’s some more:

Have a woofin’ good weekend!

BIG dogs

Hi Humans!

Its hard not to notice what “The Beast” from Sandlot and Clifford the Big Red Dog share in common..

Those dogs are huge.

To watch DOGTV they would probably need a jumbotron.

We wanted to give a shout-out to all the giant dogs, who may not realize just how big they really are.

Big dogs are big chillers.

They may be a bit more mischievous.

And they need to drink a little more water.

But owners of big dogs know that they come with extra big hearts.

So they may need a little more cuddling.

But in return they will give a lot more love.

Tell us about your big dogs, we want to hear (and we’ll give them a month of DOGTV for free).

Have a woofin’ good day,

The Oscars

Hi Humans!

This Sunday is the 85th Academy Awards. In the spirit of The Oscars, we thought it would be fun to honor some of our favorite dogs in films.

The nominees:

1. Air Buddy from Air Bud and Full House

Air Buddy, a stray, was discovered and adopted by Kevin di Cicco. The golden retriever was raised in San Diego and was trained in numerous sports. He gained his fame on America’s Funniest Home Videos. After his acting career, Air Buddy died in 1998 from cancer at the age of 12.

2. Pal from Lassie

Pal was the first to play the role of Lassie on film and television. Pal was born in California in 1940, and was chosen to play Lassie three years later. Lassie died at the age of 18, and many of his descendant’s went on to play his famous role.

3. Terry (Toto) from The Wizard of Oz

Terry, a Cairn Terrier, was owned and trained by Carl Spitz. She starred in 15 movies but was only credited in The Wizard of Oz in 1939. While in the film, Terry was paid more than any of the other actors — good humans!

4. Spike from Old Yeller

Spike, a yellow Mastador, was rescued from a shelter in Van Nuys, California. Spike is best known for his role in Disney’s Old Yeller, but featured in a few other films as well. He also made a few television appearances in The Mickey Mouse Club and  The Westerner.

5. Pete the Pup from The Little Rascals

Pete the Pup, an American Staffordshire Bull Terrier, made appearances in a number of films but is best known for his role in The Little Rascals. Many other dogs have been used to play Pete, none having his signature, natural ring around the eye.

Who are your favorite dog actors?

Have a woofin’ good weekend,

Valentine Dog Contest!

Hi Humans,

As Valentine’s Day quickly approaches, we take time to appreciate the love that we feel from our close friends, families, and significant others. We spend time tasting picking out the perfect chocolates at Godiva. We try to think of the perfect romantic gesture that will outdo last year’s. We set an alarm for the day before to remember to order those flowers.

But it feels like we’ve been forgetting someone special.

Don’t leave your most loyal companion alone this year.

After all, “A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself”.

Or as Carrie Underwood so eloquently puts it, “The more boys I meet the more I love my dog”. Amen, sista!

Don’t forget about your puppy this year, enter our contest for a chance to show your dog some extra love.

Have a woofin’ good week,
