Hi humans,
Here are this week’s top 4:
1. AVMA. I had a great week in San Diego. What a city – sun, fun and dogs. I was in San Diego this past week for the annual AVMA convention (American Veterinary Medical Association). We (DOGTV) had a booth there, which was a great opportunity for us to meet many nice people who know all about DOGTV, and also people from all around the U.S. who didn’t know about the first television channel for dogs. I was, once again, surprised to hear how many people have been leaving the TV on for their pets for years before we even launched our channel.
I would like to thank Beke, Luis, Connie, Maureen, Zuri, Jake (the dog) and Prof. Dodman for all the great work they put in at the convention. Together, we had the coolest booth around!

2. Summer. This is a perfect opportunity to invite you to visit us (and our coolest booth!) to the annual “Dog Days of Summer,” which is the largest dog event in San Diego. I was told this year is going to be extra fun. This special dog festival will take place at Cardiff by the Sea, on Saturday, Aug. 11, so come and say hi with your dog.
3. Filming. There is nothing I love more that filming dogs for the channel. It’s always fun to see all the different every dogs, that all have their own kind of “star quality.”
Following our “Star in The Making” competition and the casting call we did in San Diego last Sunday, we filmed all the winners for DOGTV this week.
I had a really great time, and I hope the dogs did, too. Here’s a little tip for you, if you choose to videotape your dog: let him lead. It doesn’t matter how many TV shows or films I’ve previously directed on DOGTV because the director is not me it’s always the dog. You can’t shout “Cut!”, or ask him – “can you growl for me one more time please?” You have to follow him and film him constantly, and hope he’ll naturally give you what you want.
So, in many ways, DOGTV is a channel for dogs – by dogs. The dogs are the actors, the directors, and sometime the photographers (don’t ask…).
I would like to thank Chopper, Matilda, Remi and all the other DOGTV stars we filmed this week. You will all see them very soon on the channel!
<filming dogs is awesome; filming dogs and kids is double awesome!>
4. Barkers. I don’t know if you’re familiar with “The Beatle Barkers,” but recently I’ve returned to listen to them every time I needed some dog inspiration. This album, released in 1983 by the “Woofers & Tweeters Ensemble,” consists of dogs barking Beatles songs. And yes, it’s as funny as it sounds. Just listen to the barking version of “A Hard Day’s Night”
or “Love Me Do” to appreciate its brilliance.
With these tunes, I wish you a wonderful barking week!

Thanks for the shout out Ron! Connie and I had a great time with you and Zuri in Fun Diego and really appreciated the opportunity to spend time with you as well as Dr. Nick Dodman at our beautiful AVMA booth. It was an amazing opportunity for the DogTV staff to meet so many vets from around the world, share our programming and vision and receive so much positive feedback from individuals of all different specialties in the veterinary space!
We had a great day at “Cardiff Dog Days of Summer” yesterday as well with over 10,000 people and their pups in attendance on what turned out to be a hot coastal San Diego day. Many owners and their pups took the time to come in out of the heat and enjoy some shade in our DogTV Lounge while watching Dog TV. A great time was had by all and everyone agreed their pups are big fans and want their DogTV here in San Diego!
